UYR Group has taken on an Anapurna H2500i LED – the third machine in its Agfa portfolio – to double its capacity for POS jobs in the retail and hospitality sectors.
Installed in May, the hybrid printer joins two other Anapurnas – an M3200 roll-to-roll and an FB2540 fixed flatbed – to improve the speed and quality of the Pontefract-based print and design studio’s offering to its end user clientele.
A 2.5m inkjet system with UV-LED curing capabilities, it is the latest addition to UYR’s growing print portfolio following its decision to bring machinery in-house to support its design services in 2006.
Account director Phillip Tasker said: “We have had a long, successful relationship with Agfa, in particular its new UK managing director Eddie Williams, who has worked alongside us for around 10 years.
“Plenty of other machines do a similar job to this H2500i, helping us to produce large-format POS work for retail and hospitality, but we made the decision based on the great support and service that Agfa has provided over the years.
“This is a key, established market for us and, by taking on a hybrid alongside our roll-to-roll and flatbed machines, we can essentially double volume, as well as increasing speed and quality on both types of print. It lets us keep growing without impacting existing clients.”
Agfa’s Anapurna H2500i LED can take a maximum length of 1.4m on a single rigid roller table, or 3.2m using a media extension table. It prints on substrates up to 45mm thick at speeds up to 115sqm/hr.
UYR’s wide-format capabilities through its Agfa machinery are complimented with a wide gamut of litho, digital and t-shirt printing facilities. It runs a number of machines from Heidelberg, Epson and HP, as well as finishing equipment from Polar and Heidelberg.
The group’s client base is almost entirely made up of end users, who are introduced to UYR’s services through the design and creative side of the business. Managing director Adam Wood said his company’s wide-format side is “flourishing” and would continue to focus on being responsive and supportive to its clients’ needs.
UYR currently employs more than 100 members of staff.
