Baker Labels has enhanced its service offering after investing £70,000 in a Ricoh Pro C7200x.

Baker: “This helps to complement our offerings”

Installed around three months ago, the additional machine has joined the company’s Print Bureau at its trade label printing factory in Brentwood, Essex, alongside two Ricoh Pro C5100s, Roland DG wide-format kit and various finishing equipment.

The company said that while its other recent investments – including a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+LM and two Series 3 AB Graphic Digicon finishers – have supported its specialism of reel-to-reel label printing, the Pro C7200x enables it to add optional extras to customer projects.

The five-colour machine, which was supplied by reseller Smart Print, can print white plus CMYK in a single pass while special colours and toners available include clear, invisible red, neon pink and yellow.

Capable of printing A4 at up to 95ppm and A3 at up to 53ppm, the machine features automatic quality control technology, calibration and registration alongside mechanical registration and extras such as a media management tool that allows clear and simple identification of the media before printing begins.

The device can output onto a wide range of media up to 360gsm and up to a length of 1,260mm and can also print on envelopes, synthetics and metallics. Its inline finisher, meanwhile, will enable Baker Labels to create booklets from duplex print work.

Baker Labels managing director Steve Baker said: “Whilst our main focus is on the roll label market, the quality that can be achieved on these presses help to complement our offerings.

“Ultra-short runs, proofing and mock ups with embellishment effects can be produced in a cost-effective way without using up the main presses.”

Established in 1973, Baker Labels employs 98 staff and turns over £10m. Last month the company expanded its senior management team to assist with overseeing continued growth and moves into new business areas.
